What is a quick-release leash, and where/how is it used?

A quick-release leash is a specialized type of leash primarily used in hunting and dog sports. Its purpose is to allow the dog to be quickly and easily released from the leash, saving time and effort.

Typically, a quick-release leash is designed so that it:

• Functions without an additional collar: The integrated collar is placed directly around the dog’s neck. When the quick-release mechanism is activated, the lower strap slides through the rings, releasing the dog while the collar remains at the bottom of the strap. This allows the dog to be freed from the leash without complications.
• Allows for quick operation: It is simple to use, enabling the dog to be released with just one movement.
• Is robust and functional: It is often made from durable materials such as leather or Biothane, ensuring it can withstand the demands of hunting or training activities.

This type of leash is commonly used with hunting dogs to grant them immediate freedom at the right moment, such as during tracking or retrieving tasks. It is also useful in dog sports, where quick leashing and unleashing are required.

Our handcrafted Quick-release leashes

We craft these leashes using 4 mm thick cowhide fat leather. They are available in two widths: 1.5 cm and 2 cm. The stainless steel fittings, including hunting hooks, snap hooks, and carabiners, are sourced from Sprenger, a company renowned for its exceptional quality.

Our release leashes are offered in three leather colors: brown, cognac, and olive. Additionally, we provide stitched variants, which feature a more refined appearance that catches the eye.
