Grey leather shoulder leash – braided, two-part, handmade in Hamburg
Grey is new to our range. Alongside brown, cognac and olive it is the coolest tone we offer – understated, slightly technical, and it stands out against any coat without shouting over it. The first thing you notice in the hand is the weight: this leash is braided from individual segments of combination-tanned oiled leather, without a single seam and without rivets. With a cross-section of roughly 1.8 x 2.7 cm it sits solidly in the grip and does not curl up.

What happens if the leather stretches?
Leather works: under daily pulling it gives a little over time. With natural leather that is normal, not a defect. What you can do about it depends on how the leash is made – on our braided leashes, made without seams and without rivets, the length can be readjusted by removing individual leather segments, with nothing to unpick. Regular greasing keeps the leather supple without stretching it further.
Can I have my contact details engraved?
Your name and phone number can be engraved on one integrated leather segment at the end of the leash – useful if dog and leash ever part ways. You simply enter the text with your order.
Which lengths should I choose?
The leash comes in two parts that you choose separately. For the shoulder strap, go by your own height and by how low you want the leash to hang: 140 cm carries high and short, 180 cm gives the dog more room. The lower lead sets the distance to your dog – 50 to 60 cm for close handling, 80 to 90 cm for loose walking in the field. If you are unsure, tell us your height and how you like to handle your dog and we will recommend a combination.
Does grey suit my dog?
Largely a matter of taste, and of how the leather works with your dog's coat. Grey stays quiet and does not compete with the coat colour – on grey and silver dogs it creates a tone-on-tone effect, while against black or red coats it gives a clear, cool contrast. If you prefer something warmer, choose cognac or brown; olive is particularly popular among hunters. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your dog and we will advise you.
How do I care for the leash?
Work in leather grease two to three times a year, more often with heavy use. Brush off coarse dirt when dry, never machine wash and do not use detergents. Oiled leather is highly water-repellent but not waterproof: rain and wet grass do it no harm, and after prolonged exposure the leash should dry at room temperature – avoid radiators and direct sunlight.
