Cognac leather shoulder leash, 2 cm wide, infinitely adjustable

The widest of our adjustable leashes. Two centimetres of oiled leather sit differently in the hand than one – fuller, calmer, and with a dog that pulls, nothing cuts in. Cognac is the warmest tone in our range, a red-brown leather that takes on a patina over the years.

Which dogs is this leash made for?

Large, powerful dogs of roughly 25 to 40 kilos. Pulling strength matters as much as weight: anyone handling a dog that pulls towards game or another dog will clearly feel the difference between 1.5 and 2 cm – wider leather spreads the pull over more surface and does not cut into the hand.

How does the infinite adjustment work?

Two rings act as sliders. Move them and the leash becomes shorter or longer – no holes, no buckle, no fixed steps. That way the same leash works over the shoulder, in the hand, or held short at the roadside.

What happens if the leather stretches?

Leather works: under daily pulling it gives a little over time. With natural leather that is normal, not a defect. What you can do about it depends on how the leash is made – on the infinitely adjustable models you can reset the length at any time using the two rings that act as sliders, so any give in the leather does not matter. Regular greasing keeps the leather supple without stretching it further.

Which fitting should I choose?

Brass offers the classic warm look and develops a patina over time. Stainless steel stays silver, is slightly harder and completely resistant to salt water. Chrome-plated also looks silver and is the most affordable option. On the 2 cm models a scissor-type snap hook is available as a fourth choice. How do I care for the leash?

Work in leather grease two to three times a year, more often with heavy use. Brush off coarse dirt when dry, never machine wash and do not use detergents. Oiled leather is highly water-repellent but not waterproof: rain and wet grass do it no harm, and after prolonged exposure the leash should dry at room temperature – avoid radiators and direct sunlight.
